Overview

On the State Line, Home of the John Ross House

Rossville sits directly on the Georgia-Tennessee line in the valley between Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain, named for Cherokee Principal Chief John Ross, who lived there before the Trail of Tears. A post office has operated under the name since 1817, and the city incorporated in 1905.

Historically a textile-mill town, Rossville is known today for the National Historic Landmark John Ross House and for Lake Winnepesaukah, a family amusement and water park that's been a regional fixture for generations.
