Sale Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northern Hamilton County, along U.S. Route 27 between Chattanooga and Dayton. The community takes its name from the creek running through it, itself named for a Revolutionary War-era auction of goods and arms seized from Cherokee towns.
Sale Creek is currently at the center of a major development: the State of Tennessee and Hamilton County are transferring roughly 1,300 acres of the adjoining historic McDonald Farm to create Roaring Creek State Park — Tennessee's planned 70th state park — explicitly designed to connect to Sale Creek via the Cumberland Trail.
